There's something about small, intimate weddings that hold a special place in my heart. I love seeing my couples so carefree and happy, without worrying about all the little details. Danielle and Pierre wanted to get married on the beach in Maui, surrounded by their closest family, and I'm so happy I was there to capture their dream wedding! There's nothing like being surrounded by the sound of the ocean, and feeling the sand between your toes while marrying the love of your life.
Their hand-written vows were SO sweet and heart felt, we were all in tears by the end of them..
Danielle's father had a special surprise for the end of the ceremony, and we were not disappointed!
After the ceremony it was time for some family photos with the newly wed couple and their sweet daughter Leah! But first we took a short feeding break and I couldn't help but capture this tender moment.
After spending some time taking photos with the rest of the family, I swept them away for their sunset photos. I took them to one of my favorite beaches in Maui, Makena Cove, and they shared their first dance as husband and wife while the sun set behind them.
After the sun dipped below the horizon, there was one more spot I had in mind that I had stumbled upon earlier in the day. The sunset was still so beautiful, and they agreed for a few more! I'm so glad that they trusted me with my vision for these photos, because they ended up being some of my favorite from the day. The moon even made an appearance, and they were so excited because they explained that in Canada, the moon never sits in the sky like a smile. I thought it was the neatest thing, but also in that moment it made me feel really small compared to what is out there in the nights sky.
At the end I gave them some space and let them have a quiet moment together, just the two of them. They looked so calm and at peace, and even from a distance I could feel the outpouring of love they have for each other. It's days like this that make me appreciate what I do so much.
